2014 is drawing to a close which means I'm basically denying that I'm getting a year older by getting a wee bit tipsy and raining down fury on all who dare mention my age. It also means that I do a little bit of quiet reflection and give thanks for all the great shizz in my life.

So my Christmas loot was pretty awesome this year - I got quite a few accessories, such as chunky rings and statement earrings (like the ones pictured above), among other things. It's really awesome to have friends who just get my style and help me grow my costume jewellery collection. As my TF4L (True Friend for Life) said, 'I saw some really crazy jewellery, the kind I don't think I like, so I figured you'd love them.' I love it when my friends just get it, you know?

So a big shout out to the awesome people who gave me awesome gifts, to those who gave me not so awesome gifts, and to those who didn't give me any gifts, because truth be told, your presence in my life is gift enough.

Thanks for reading! Merry Christmas and a happiest hippiest hoppiest New Year to you and all your loved ones!

Tinsel time

Skirt: Chic Wish | Sunglasses: Vans
Clutch: Kate Spade

Never let it be said that the Christmas spirit is not strong in me. Today's a tinsel top kind of day to be reminiscent of the tinsel that we'd wrap around the tree when I was younger. Tinsel is so darn festive that I just want to wear it on my body like I am a walking Christmas tree, although it's kind of pokey and making me itchy but no pain no gain right??

You know, I realise it's not exactly rocket science but I had a bit of trouble doing up my tree this year. Firstly, I forgot that I didn't have any lights so when I put up the tree, I couldn't put on the baubles until I got the lights, so the tree sat bare for a week and my friend commented, 'you know you're supposed to decorate it, right?'

Then, when I got the lights, I excitedly starting laying them on. I started at the bottom of the tree and only at the top did I realise I had put them the wrong way so the plug that connects to the electrical outlet was AT THE TOP of the tree. Maximum stupidity.

Finally, I placed the angel at the top of the tree and looked proudly at my creation. But to my horror, the angel didn't stay put and fell off the tree like Lucifer falling from heaven to hell (isn't that such a good reference?) so yeah. But WHATEVER. The Christmas spirit remains strong!

Thanks for reading, have a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones! Merry Christmas!

Continuing my streak of shiny with this fancy skirt with an equestrian themed print on it because it looks like the fanciest wrapping paper this side of Singapore. Santa says you've been good this year and so I'm your present. Unwrap with care. BOOM. And just like that I've managed to make your Christmas just a little bit grosser. MUAHAHAHAHAHA.

Speaking of Santa, I hope the old guy got my emails. I don't want to sound spoiled or anything but my wishlist has been growing with no resolution. Like seriously dude, where in the world is the Chanel bag I asked for? How about that winning lottery ticket with my name on it? And WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BUTLER NAMED JEEVES WHO IS EXCEPTIONALLY TALENTED IN THE CULINARY ART OF FRENCH TOAST MAKING????? HUH????? Look Santa, don't make me come down to the North Pole and punch an elf.

Oops, I guess I've sunk to a new low threatening to punch a little magical person for presents. I might be in the naughty list again, dammit. Thanks for reading!

I love the holiday season because it gives me the perfect excuse to indulge my inner magpie and adorn myself in all things shiny. Today, my colleague looked at my skirt and said, 'wow, shiny.' to which I responded, 'CHRISTMAS!!!' and he nodded sagely.

There are a few places where "because CHRISTMAS" would work I think.

1. When you've just consumed your third piece of pie in a row and you want to help yourself to a fourth.
2. When you spend a whole day lying in bed watching movies and snacking on chips.
3. When you burst into tears in a store after trying on a pile of clothes only to find that they all don't fit.
4. When you forget to send in assignments or pay your bills.
5. When you have a wrapping induced mania and you're covered in duct tape and ribbons.

You guys, I am SO going to go full because CHRISTMAS. I can't wait!!! Thanks for reading!

A special shout out to my brother from another mother Michael the mickey poo who came to Singapore to be the official photographer of sir nacho xiaocho hui-pan and who took those pictures. Your model is GORGEOUS!

I've been a bit of a space cadet lately. I had these pictures saved in a draft format since last week and I forgot to post them. When the boo was taking the daily photos, I told him to take a close up of the floral appliques, but then I had a little bit of a conundrum. You see, that day, my friend started talking about how moisturising is very important in the battle against aging (SPOILER: We will lose the war) because it will delay the spread of wrinkles and that includes the wrinkles in the armpits. This obviously left me quite aghast as I have never ever even thought about those wrinkles and this floral applique photo is the basic introduction course to my armpit wrinkles.

I mean, seriously, I'm already having to think about the usual indicators of age - crows feets, saggy neck, pruned hands, veiny feet, and NOW I HAVE TO THINK ABOUT MY ARMPITS???? My god. I could not believe that moisturising the pits was a thing so I sent a picture of my unmoisturised armpit to my friend, who then sent a picture of hers back. Lo and behold, her arms did not have the unsavoury pit lines that mine have. In case you're squeamish about weird things like random fleshy body areas, skip the rest of this post...
Freaking PITiftul camel toe arm pit!!
So moisture. Much wow.
Thanks for reading. THE STRUGGLE IS REAL.

Dress: Smooch the Label
Shoes: New Look (Similar here)

Bag: Gracious Aires

Love the little bow details on the back!!

When I visited my aunty B in Santa Barbara, she gave me this necklace and said it was inspired by the necklace from the epically romantic Tolstoy novel Anna Karenina. I've been hoping to wear it for some time now but I just couldn't find the right outfit for it but when this Smooch dress came on sale, I was all 'hell yeah bomb diggity'. Yeah, I'm definitely no epic novelist.
I should probably read the book and take in the great romance of "the greatest book ever written" so that I can walk around being all smug like, 'I read and wear necklaces and therefore I win at life'. Or I could just watch the movie.

I'd like to leave you with a quote from the book and marvel at how ironic it is because I seriously was waiting for the entire 'perfect' look to go with this necklace.

“If you look for perfection, you'll never be content.”

I enjoy the occasional dark lippie so I tried to match the lipstick print burgundy skirt with my Mac lipstick "Hang Up" which was great for about an hour after which I had breakfast and drank coffee and it was all over my food, cup and face. Honestly, you just can't take me anywhere.

I read somewhere that the average lipstick wearer eats roughly 1.7 kilograms of lipstick in her (or his - hello trans folk!) lifetime. That seems like a decent amount but I'm pretty sure my average would be less because it mostly ends up in my hair. Wind is not my friend.

So two takeaways of today's post:
1. Mac lipstick 'Hang Up' is very nice.
2. Omnomnomnom lipstick is food.

The local tourist

Shirt: Controlled Commodity
Pants: Uniqlo (Similar here)
Shoes: Converse
Bracelet: Quintessential (Similar-ish here)
Bag: Marni (Similar here) | Ring: Mango (Similar here)
Hat: Nasty Gal

Being a snobby snob face, I tend to have some elitist beliefs about the things we can find in Singapore, versus the things from overseas. For example, I think that Kit Kat from the UK > Kit Kat found in Singapore (I think it's made in Malaysia and before you get all what-a-bitch-she's-an-anti-Malaysia-and-Malaysians-butthole, please note that my father is Malaysian so let's not get so hyped up. Sheesh, you need to eat less chocolate).

However, I am not turning my nose up at this new local brand - Controlled Commodity makes understated shirts for men and women, and while my style is normally more akin to that of a mental patient, I was impressed with how well tailored the shirts are, and how flattering they are for a shorty like myself. So yeah, if you like well made shirts that aren't the usual run of the mill design (who wouldn't???), I'd definitely recommend you check them out.
